A quick trip to K-Mart to buy some shoes for an interview, turned into a whole new adventure for me the other day! With no luck in the shoe department I decided to take a wander over to the homewares section with no intention of buying anything as without a job, (hence the need for interview shoes) I'm living life on a bit of a budget at the moment. Little did I know, sitting there in the middle of good old Hamilton K-Mart, was a gorgeous little table, a bright yellow pineapple, and the inspiration for my newest blog and life adventure.

Having worked in design and homewares stores in my Summer breaks from university, I developed a bit of a love for style, interior design and just general fashion. Unfortunatly this means I also have expensive taste and having just graduated from univeristy, I really don't have the funds to entertain my love for these areas with super expensive, designer products. As a result, I guess I've had to develop a bit of an eye for a stylish bargain!

Pineapples and ponies

Just to prove that great taste and gorgeous homewares don't need to cost you a fortune, I thought I'd share my secrets with you:

  1. I actually purchased the lamp from an Op-Shop and then upcycled it by giving it a paint job. The textured shade really makes this lamp, giving it character and a warm, creamy glow that goes with just about any object or colour I put on my table with it!

  2. Speaking of the table, this was one of my K-Mart purchases which I scored for $35, a total bargain! The legs have a dipped effect, meaning they're half white and half wooden which is a gorgeous look.

  3. The pineapple to the right is another K-Mart purchase, and at $12 another amazing find.

And on a final, summary note; K-Mart is the flavour of the month, get down there people!
