Makeup Free Days!

Lately I’ve seen a million blogs all based around makeup, beauty trends, and makeup reviews.
Don’t get me wrong I love dolling myself up and have a good makeup collection of my own, I also sometimes wonder about the extent of our obsession with makeup.
I really value my ‘makeup free days’ as it gives my skin a break, and is so hassle free! When was the last time you went without makeup for the whole day?
If that was too long ago to remember, maybe it’s time to have a think about why you’re wearing makeup and actually schedule in a day every now and then to go without makeup.
Becoming too reliant on makeup can be quite a negative cycle which a lot of people slip into; self esteem suffers as you don’t feel complete without makeup, your wallet suffers because the stuff is so damned expensive, and your skin suffers from being messed with!
PLUS it’s Summer time which means sand, swimming, tanning, adventuring and camping – makeup doesn’t go well with any of these activities!
Here’s why I’m making and effort to go without makeup this Summer:
No one wants to deal with long hair and lipgloss on a windy day.
With all the summer activities, festivals, and holidays going on… “Ain’t no body got money for that new foundation!”
It’s impossible to swim in the ocean with makeup on and not end up with black panda eyes, no matter HOW waterproof that mascara is…
And after you’ve been for a swim, walked up the nearby hill, then eaten an ice cream, your makeup has smudged and wiped off, lip gloss is now all in your hair, and your face is melting off… that’s not really that sexy.
You’ll be surprised at how long your eyelashes grow when you’re not attacking them with mascara on a daily basis.
My skin is so much healthier after a ‘makeup break’
You don’t have to get up so early in the morning to start applying your makeup, so you’ll get a SLEEP IN!
I hate it when I have lipstick on and can’t kiss my boyfriend because he will end up with bright pink, red, or orange lips. And cheek kisses just aren’t the same…
PLUS as any good boyfriend will tell you, “You don’t need makeup, you’re beautiful just as you are”. And girls, we should listen to them!
